Are you ready to make a difference? We’re on the lookout for an Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control) to join our dynamic KierBAM team at the Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard. This is your chance to be part of an exciting redevelopment project that truly matters!

Location & Hours

Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week (some flexibility available)

Security Clearance

Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. This process can take up to 8 weeks. Eligibility criteria: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

Your Role

As an Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control), you will play a vital role in our Engineering Survey team, ensuring precision and quality in our construction activities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Checking and maintaining survey control networks, supporting machine control applications for excavation, demolition, and drilling operations.
  • Creating and verifying design models for machine control, completing operational checks, and providing detailed reports through laser scanning and point cloud modelling.
  • Collecting and recording survey data accurately, operating survey equipment to the highest precision standards.
  • Collaborating with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to align construction programmes with survey operations.
  • Supporting quality control procedures in accordance with QC1 requirements, maintaining excellent standards of traceability and reporting.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if:

  • You hold a degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction, with 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • You have experience with Leica Machine Control equipment and surveying tools, including total stations, GPS/GNSS, and laser scanners.
  • You’re proficient in survey data processing software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone, and Leica 3DR.
  • You understand QC1 procedures and quality documentation within a civil engineering context, with strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • You hold a CSCS Card, relevant site safety qualifications, and are a member of CInstCES (or working towards full membership) or another professional body.
