About the Role
As an integral part of our team, you will support the delivery of innovative highways technology solutions across a variety of infrastructure projects. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, enhancing your technical skills and gaining exposure to cutting-edge systems such as Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), communications, and digital infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing technology design packages (ITS, communications, power infrastructure).
- Produce detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Support design assurance processes, ensuring compliance with standards (e.g., DMRB, National Highways).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, electrical, and mechanical engineers.
- Gain hands-on experience across ITS, communications networks, and emerging smart infrastructure systems.
- Contribute to project coordination, meetings, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support bid/tender processes.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if you:
- Hold a degree (or are working towards one) in Electrical, Electronic, Communications, or Technology Engineering.
- Have some practical engineering experience (placement, internship, or similar).
- Are enthusiastic about highways technology, ITS, or digital infrastructure.
- Possess awareness of ITS systems and communications networks.
- Understand design standards (e.g., DMRB) and have experience using CAD/design tools.
- Have exposure to infrastructure or highways environments.
- Communicate effectively and thrive in a collaborative team setting.
- Are working towards professional membership (IET / ICE).
- Can meet BPSS/security requirements.
Working Conditions
This full-time position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with some flexibility on hours available to suit your needs. The starting salary is from £31,000 per annum.
