Location & Hours

Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week (with some flexibility available)

Security Clearance

Due to the sensitive nature of our site, BPSS security clearance is required. This process can take up to 8 weeks. To be eligible, candidates must:

  • Hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country
  • Have resided in the UK for the past 5 years

About Us

KierBAM is a dynamic Joint Venture between Kier and BAM Nuttall, currently engaged in an exciting redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. We’re on the lookout for an Engineering Surveyor (Assurance) to join our collaborative team, focusing on delivering top-notch quality standards throughout the construction process.

Your Responsibilities

As an Engineering Surveyor (Assurance), you’ll play a crucial role in our Engineering Survey team, ensuring precision in surveying during critical construction phases. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Conducting assurance surveys for reinforced concrete structures, including pre-pour and post-pour checks, and as-built surveys using laser scanning
  • Maintaining survey control networks and operating survey equipment with the utmost precision
  • Supporting engineers with setting out activities and preparing survey reports, drawings, and data outputs
  • Coordinating with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to align construction programs with survey operations
  • Managing quality control procedures in accordance with QC1 requirements, ensuring traceability and reporting standards

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if:

  • You hold a degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction
  • You have 3-5 years of experience in a similar surveying position on civil engineering projects
  • You’re proficient with surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS/GNSS, and laser scanners, as well as survey data processing software like AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Cyclone, and 3DR
  • You possess a strong understanding of QC1 procedures and quality documentation in a civils context, with excellent attention to detail
  • You hold a CSCS Card, relevant site safety qualifications, and are a member of CInstCES (or working towards full membership)
