Location & Working Hours
Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week (some flexibility available—just let us know when you speak to us!)
Important Eligibility Criteria
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required, which can take up to 8 weeks. Candidates must:
- Hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country
- Have resided in the UK for the past 5 years
Your Role and Responsibilities
As an Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control), you will be an integral part of our Engineering Survey team, delivering high-quality surveying services for machine-controlled construction operations. Your daily tasks will include:
- Checking and maintaining survey control networks, supporting machine control applications for excavation, demolition, and drilling operations.
- Creating and verifying design models for machine control, completing operational checks, and providing detailed reports through laser scanning and point cloud modelling.
- Ensuring accurate collection and recording of survey data, operating equipment to the highest precision standards.
- Collaborating with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to align construction programmes with survey operations.
- Supporting quality control procedures in accordance with QC1 requirements, maintaining excellent standards of traceability and reporting.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if:
- You hold a degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction, with 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
- You have hands-on experience with Leica Machine Control equipment and surveying tools like total stations, GPS/GNSS, and laser scanners.
- You’re proficient in survey data processing software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone, and Leica 3DR.
- You understand QC1 procedures and possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- You hold a CSCS Card, relevant site safety qualifications, and are a member of CInstCES (or working towards full membership) or another professional body.
