Location & Hours
Location: Manchester/Newcastle or Birmingham – with agile working opportunities
Hours: 40 hours per week (some flexibility available)
Starting Salary: From £31,000 per annum
Your Role
As an Assistant Technology Design Engineer, you will:
- Support the development of technology design packages, including ITS, communications, and power infrastructure.
- Produce drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Assist with design assurance processes and ensure compliance with standards (e.g., DMRB, National Highways).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, electrical, and mechanical engineers.
- Gain hands-on experience with ITS, communications networks, and emerging smart infrastructure systems.
- Support project coordination, meetings, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and technical development.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if you:
- Are degree-qualified (or working towards) in Electrical, Electronic, Communications, or Technology Engineering.
- Have some practical experience (placement, internship, or similar).
- Are passionate about highways technology, ITS, or digital infrastructure.
- Have awareness of ITS systems and/or communications networks.
- Understand design standards (e.g., DMRB) and are familiar with CAD/design tools.
- Have exposure to infrastructure or highways environments.
- Communicate effectively and enjoy working collaboratively in a team.
