We’re on the lookout for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic Shropshire Term Service Contract team based in Shrewsbury. In this pivotal role, you’ll support the delivery of essential road maintenance schemes for Shropshire Council, ensuring our community stays connected and safe.
About the Role
The Shropshire Term Service Contract covers a diverse range of activities, including:
- Surfacing
- Surface dressing
- Drainage
- Structural repairs
- Winter maintenance
- Emergency response
- Street scene services
Location & Working Conditions
Location: Shrewsbury - Hybrid working available
Hours: Permanent Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (flexibility on hours available)
Salary: £42,500 - £47,500 per year + private healthcare + £5,900 annual car allowance + benefits

Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Manage the pricing of capital maintenance schemes, including surfacing and structural repairs.
- Oversee cost management for winter maintenance and emergency response activities.
- Assess valuations, calculate payments, and manage subcontractor performance.
- Contribute to month-end Cost Value Reports, identifying issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support the commercial team with various duties as needed.

- A strong background in quantity surveying with extensive experience in a similar environment.
- A degree in a commercial, construction, or related discipline.
- Confidence in using Microsoft Excel and digital tools for commercial insight and reporting.
- Well-developed numerical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- A collaborative mindset, capable of building strong working relationships within a team.
