Are you ready to make a difference in your community? We’re on the lookout for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our dedicated team in Towcester, Northamptonshire.

Key Details

Location: Towcester, Northamptonshire
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £28,000 to £29,800 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)

Your Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our highways maintenance team, where you’ll play a vital role in delivering essential carriageway, footway, and drainage works across the local area. As a member of our close-knit team, you’ll help improve and maintain the infrastructure that keeps our communities connected and safe.

What Will You Be Responsible For?

As a Highways Operative, you’ll support the maintenance team in delivering high-quality highway repairs and improvements. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Operating light plant equipment such as compressors, rollers, disc cutters, and vibrating plates, while ensuring their daily upkeep.
  • Assisting skilled team members with kerbing, drainage, paving, bricklaying, and surfacing works.
  • Excavating materials using hand and powered tools safely and efficiently.
  • Performing general site duties including sweeping, cleaning, litter picking, and handling materials and equipment.
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive working environment for all team members.

  • You have previous experience in highway maintenance or a similar field.
  • You hold relevant certificates and qualifications for this type of work.
  • You’re collaborative and enjoy working closely with others to achieve shared goals.
  • You’re reliable, trusted, and committed to delivering work safely and to a high standard.
  • You have a valid driving license.
