We’re on the lookout for a Planned Works Senior Supervisor to join our dynamic Somerset Highways Term Service Contract team at the Glastonbury Depot. This is your chance to oversee a diverse range of highway maintenance operations while collaborating with your team, clients, and local communities to deliver safe and effective solutions. Key Details

Location: Glastonbury Depot – site-based, 5 days per week
Hours: Permanent Full-time, 40 hours per week
Note: We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship for this role.

Your Responsibilities

As a Planned Works Senior Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of planned works and reactive maintenance activities across the Somerset highways network. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Providing direct line management for highway operatives, including performance reviews, welfare, disciplinary matters, absence management, training, and day-to-day supervision.
  • Managing the daily operations of the depot, ensuring high standards of housekeeping, security, stock control, maintenance, and compliance with company procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Assisting with the programming, management, and delivery of highway maintenance works.
  • Daily allocation and supervision of works and resources to ensure compliance with the maintenance requirement plan.
  • Conducting site inductions, briefings, toolbox talks, and maintaining records.
  • Liaising with clients, the public, and key stakeholders, including emergency services.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for someone who:

  • Has experience in the highways sector, with a strong understanding of network operations and scheme delivery.
  • Can lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Communicates confidently and builds positive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Holds an SSSTS qualification or a higher-level site management qualification.
  • Is comfortable using Microsoft Office applications to support day-to-day operations and reporting.
