We’re excited to invite three Senior Quantity Surveyors to become part of our dynamic KierBAM team at the Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard. This is your chance to contribute to a significant redevelopment project in a secure and prestigious environment!

Location & Working Hours

Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week (some flexibility available—just let us know when you speak to us!)

Security Clearance: Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. This process can take up to 8 weeks. Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in managing all contractual and financial aspects of this exciting project. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports while conducting cost planning and control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Reviewing and negotiating contracts, subcontracts, and variations, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Managing procurement processes, evaluating supplier bids, and preparing interim and final payment applications.
  • Monitoring project progress, forecasting final costs, and identifying potential financial risks.
  • Collaborating with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors while mentoring junior team members.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if:

  • You hold a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering, with professional accreditation such as RICS or CIOB preferred.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in quantity surveying within construction or infrastructure projects, ideally in the nuclear or defence sectors.
  • You possess strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques, with proficiency in quantity surveying software.
  • You have excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse teams.
  • You meet the eligibility criteria for security clearance, including holding a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and having resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
