Location & Hours
Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week (some flexibility available—just let us know when you speak to us!)

Important Security Clearance: Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. This process can take up to 8 weeks. Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
About KierBAM
KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall, currently engaged in an exciting redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage all contractual and financial aspects of this significant construction project. This is your chance to work on a high-profile development in a secure environment, where your expertise will directly contribute to the successful delivery of vital infrastructure.
Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in supporting the KierBAM team with the Royal Navy redevelopment project. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports while conducting cost planning and control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Reviewing and negotiating contracts, subcontracts, and variations to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Managing procurement processes, evaluating supplier bids, and preparing interim and final payment applications.
- Monitoring project progress, forecasting final costs, and identifying potential financial risks.
- Collaborating with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors while mentoring junior team members.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if:
- You hold a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering, with professional accreditation such as RICS or CIOB preferred.
- You have at least 5 years of experience in quantity surveying within construction or infrastructure projects, ideally in the nuclear or defence sectors.
- You possess strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques, with proficiency in quantity surveying software.
- You have excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse teams.
- You meet the eligibility criteria, including holding a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and having resided in the UK for the past 5 years for security clearance purposes.
