Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Tutor / Unqualified Teacher, you will play a vital role in enhancing the educational journey of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, and behaviour management.
• Collaborating with the education team to help young people overcome barriers to learning.
• Promoting positive learning behaviours.
• Leading classes during PPA and absence cover.
• Delivering enrichment activities that inspire and engage.
• Assisting in lessons to support academic understanding and emotional needs.
• Responding to immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
• Creating and collating information related to lessons and interventions.
• Advocating for the ethos of Herdley Bank School.
• Leading interventions, including reading and phonics, and reviewing progress.
• Developing the Pupil Voice and liaising with the Senior Leadership Team.
• Building relationships with parents and carers to support transitions.
• Leading ELSA sessions and completing relevant training.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
• Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA, Tutor, or Unqualified Teacher).
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH / autism in an educational setting.
• Skills in behaviour management and techniques.
• A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
