Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? North Lakes Children's Services is seeking a dedicated Tutor / Unqualified Teacher to join our vibrant team at Herdley Bank School in Haltwhistle, Northumberland. This is a full-time, term-time only position with a competitive salary of £24,000 FTE.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Tutor / Unqualified Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting the personal and academic development of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

• Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
• Collaborating with the education team to remove barriers to learning.
• Leading classes during PPA and absence cover.
• Delivering engaging enrichment activities.
• Providing support in lessons for academic understanding and emotional needs.
• Responding to immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
• Creating and collating information related to lessons and interventions.
• Advocating for the ethos of Herdley Bank School.
• Leading interventions, including reading and phonics, and reviewing student progress.
• Developing the Pupil Voice and liaising with the Senior Leadership Team.
• Building relationships with parents and carers, actively participating in transitions and consultations.
• Leading ELSA sessions and completing relevant training.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
• Previous experience in a similar role (HLTA, Tutor, or Unqualified Teacher).
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH/autism in an educational setting.
• Knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
• A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
