We are currently seeking a Waking Night Support Worker to join our team in Soham, Cambridgeshire.
About the Role
As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the physical, emotional, and social development of the children and young people in our homes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Staying awake and alert throughout the night shift
- Ensuring each child's safety and wellbeing
- Providing empathy and support when young people need reassurance
- Supporting personalized bedtime routines and occasional activities
- Accurately recording information using our computer systems
- Following the Philomena protocol when reporting a missing child
- Communicating effectively with out-of-hours services
- Acting as a positive role model and contributing to the home’s values
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following essential skills:
- Ability to work as part of a team, bringing energy and enthusiasm
- Experience and knowledge of safeguarding children
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to engage and listen to children
- Organizational skills and the ability to plan and prepare work
- Willingness to work towards a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare if not already held
Working Conditions
This is a permanent position with specific hours from 20:00 PM to 8:00 AM (12-hour shifts). You will work a rotational weekly rota, with a minimum of 48 hours per week and 168 hours per month.
