At Martha H School, located in the heart of Wigan, Lancashire, we are looking for a Deputy Headteacher with Teaching Responsibilities to join our dedicated team. This is a full-time, term-time only position with a competitive salary ranging from £48,000 to £52,000, depending on your experience.

Your Role

As our Deputy Headteacher, you will:

• Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across the school, focusing on inclusion and differentiated instruction for SEND students.
• Assess, monitor, and report on the learning needs and achievements of pupils, collaborating closely with the SENCo.
• Lead whole-school strategic planning and curriculum development.
• Provide curriculum training for staff during training sessions and INSET, valuing continuous professional development.
• Deputize for the Headteacher in their absence.
• Line manage new and existing staff, participating in recruitment and onboarding.
• Lead initiatives in careers, reading, and writing to prepare students for their next steps.
• Contribute to the development and evaluation of school policies and practices that align with our values.
• Promote a therapeutic approach to behavior and emotional wellbeing.
• Collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
• Foster a culture of cooperation and continuous improvement among staff teams.
• Work closely with other leaders in the Polaris Community to share best practices.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SEND.
• A proven track record of delivering a high-quality curriculum focused on supporting young people with SEND.
• Experience in leading and managing teams with a compassionate and therapeutic approach.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work inclusively with staff, students, and families.
• A proactive and adaptable attitude, capable of establishing new systems aligned with the school’s values.
