Join Our Team as a Waking Night Residential Childcare Support Worker!
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? At Area Camden, part of the Polaris Community, we are dedicated to providing high-quality, consistent care that helps young people achieve their goals. We are currently seeking a Waking Night Support Worker to join our vibrant team in Soham, Cambridgeshire.
About the Role
As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the physical, emotional, and social development of the children and young people in our homes. Your commitment and care will help create a safe and nurturing environment during the night.
Key Responsibilities
- Stay awake and alert throughout the night shift.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of each child.
- Provide empathy and reassurance when young people need support.
- Assist with personalized bedtime routines and occasional activities.
- Accurately record information using our computer systems.
- Follow the Philomena protocol for reporting a missing child.
- Communicate effectively with out-of-hours services and handle calls professionally.
- Act as a positive role model and adhere to Area Camden policies.
- Contribute to the home’s values and adapt to the changing needs of the children.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking individuals who are:
- Team players with energy and enthusiasm.
- Experienced and knowledgeable in safeguarding children.
- Detail-oriented, able to follow delegated tasks and record handovers.
- Effective communicators, both verbally and in writing.
- Organized and capable of planning and preparing work.
- Willing to work towards a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare if not already held.
Working Conditions
This is a permanent position with specific hours from 20:00 PM to 8:00 AM (12-hour shifts). You will be part of a rotational weekly rota, working a minimum of 48 hours per week (168 hours per month).
