Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Qualified Waking Night Support Worker to help create a stable and nurturing environment that supports each young person's physical, emotional, and social development.

What You’ll Do

  • Stay awake and alert throughout your shift to ensure the safety and wellbeing of each young person.
  • Provide calm, compassionate support during the night, recognizing that this can be a challenging time for some children.
  • Assist with individual bedtime routines and engage in suitable nighttime activities.
  • Maintain accurate computer-based records and adhere to all safeguarding procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with out-of-hours services and handle calls professionally.
  • Act as a positive role model for both colleagues and young people.

  • Understanding of Safeguarding: Know how to protect children and promote their welfare.
  • Effective Communicator: Confident in both verbal and written communication.
  • Organized and Proactive: Able to plan and prioritize your work effectively.
  • Qualifications: Willing to work towards the relevant qualification if not already held; a Children's Workforce Diploma (or equivalent) is desirable.

Working Conditions

Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Greater London (Covering Area Camden homes in Camden, Haringey & Islington)
Specific Hours: 20:00pm - 8:00am (12-hour shifts)
Fixed Rota Pattern:

  • Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun (60 hours)
  • Week 2: Wed, Thu (24 hours)
Minimum average: 168 hours per month
Annual Leave: 236 hours per year, increasing by 12 hours annually for 3 years (up to 272 hours)
Pension Scheme: Available after qualifying period
Training: Comprehensive induction and mandatory training to support your development and progression.
