Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Batley and Huddersfield

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining our school environments. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
  • Performing cleaning, maintenance tasks, and minor repairs.
  • Supervising school cleaning staff.
  • Promoting health and safety throughout the schools.
  • Handling porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
  • Maintaining school premises and reporting issues to the Headteacher.
  • Carrying out small repairs and DIY projects.
  • Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.
  • Conducting daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking.
  • Managing emergency cleaning duties, such as gritting and spill cleanup.
  • Coordinating an annual deep clean of frequently used areas.
  • Maintaining cleaning tools and products, ensuring good stock levels.
  • Locking and unlocking the premises as required.
  • Checking security at the end of the school day.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Previous caretaking experience in a school environment.
  • Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
  • A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with SEMH children.
  • A full driving license and access to your own car.
  • A willingness to travel between both school sites.
