Your Role and Responsibilities
As our SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of our students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing the school’s special educational needs (SEN) policy.
- Designing and delivering interventions to bridge attainment gaps.
- Monitoring pupil progress in line with their EHCPs.
- Coordinating annual reviews and acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support individual learning plans.
- Leading intervention groups and evaluating their effectiveness.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should possess:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- The National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a willingness to complete the NPQ for SENCOs.
- Experience in school self-evaluation and development planning.
- A background in teaching within an autism/SEMH school.
- Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and a commitment to professional development.
