About Us

Located in the heart of Tamworth, Sutherland Hall School caters to pupils aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs. Our proposed capacity is up to 78 pupils, and we pride ourselves on creating a safe and nurturing atmosphere where every child feels valued. As part of the Polaris Community, we have been transforming the lives of young people for over 30 years, with 100% of our education services rated as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.

Your Role

As our SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

• Determining the strategic development of the school's SEN policy and provision.
• Designing and delivering interventions to bridge attainment gaps.
• Assessing and monitoring pupils' progress in line with their EHCPs.
• Coordinating and leading annual reviews.
• Acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Collaborating with multi-agency teams and leading on Early Help initiatives.
• Supporting individual learning plans in partnership with teachers and parents.
• Maintaining accurate records and developing effective teaching programs.
• Working closely with external agencies to support pupils' development.
• Implementing and evaluating intervention groups for pupils with SEN.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• The National Award for SEN Co-ordination or a willingness to complete the NPQ for SENCOs.
• Experience in school self-evaluation and development planning.
• A background in teaching within an autism/SEMH school.
• Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, term-time only position with a competitive salary of £42,000 per annum. You will be part of a friendly and inclusive team dedicated to improving pupil outcomes.
