About the Role

As a Physical Education Teacher at Meoncross, you will inspire children of all abilities to become enthusiastic and reach their potential in Physical Education. Your role will be pivotal in delivering a diverse range of sports, aligning with our mission to foster excellence in all areas.

We are looking for an exceptional and inspiring Qualified Teacher of Physical Education to join our enthusiastic team. You will have the opportunity to teach various sports across all age groups, from Nursery to Year 11, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.

Throughout the academic year, you will engage students in a variety of sports, including Football, Basketball, Cross-Country, Cricket, Athletics, and Tennis. Your effective teaching will help students develop both inside and outside the classroom, while supporting the school’s policies for social, emotional, and physical development.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons across all Key Stages in line with the National Curriculum.
• Plan, prepare, and assess lessons that support pupil progress and achievement.
• Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and advanced abilities.
• Promote a positive learning environment that encourages participation, wellbeing, and healthy lifestyles.
• Lead and support extracurricular sports clubs, competitions, fixtures, and enrichment activities.
• Contribute to the development of the school’s PE and sporting programme.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety, including the safe use of PE equipment and facilities.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external partners to enhance sporting opportunities for pupils.
• Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
• Act as a positive role model, maintaining professional standards at all times.

About You

Essential Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification relevant to Physical Education or Sport.
• Experience delivering a range of sports and physical activities to children and young people.
• Strong understanding of effective teaching, learning, and behaviour management strategies.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage pupils of all abilities.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
• Competent IT skills.
• Flexible, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Willingness to contribute to extracurricular sports clubs, fixtures, and school events.

Desirable Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
• Experience working within a school environment.
• Strong subject knowledge across a wide range of sports.
• First Aid qualification.
• Experience supporting pupils with diverse learning and behavioural needs.
• Ability to contribute new ideas to enhance the PE curriculum and sporting provision.
