Location: Huddersfield Grammar School - Yorkshire

Contract: Permanent - Full-Time

Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week

Salary: Up to £35,000 per Annum

Your Role as Facilities Manager

As our Facilities Manager, you will be the backbone of our school’s operations, ensuring that our campuses are safe, efficient, and welcoming for students, staff, and parents alike. Your role is crucial in maintaining our high standards and ensuring compliance with all legal obligations.

With a proactive approach and a keen eye for detail, you will take pride in how our school is presented, acting as a guardian of our facilities and grounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of premises and facility management across the school.
  • Act as the Health & Safety Coordinator, preparing for and attending committee meetings, ensuring compliance, and supporting audits and inspections.
  • Ensure facilities compliance, including fire safety and security protocols.
  • Manage an annual repair and maintenance schedule, addressing defects promptly.
  • Conduct regular site assessments to identify areas for improvement.
  • Handle site security and key holder duties, ensuring proper opening and closing of premises.
  • Lead and support site teams, providing guidance and performance management.
  • Set and monitor high standards for the site team, accommodating school activities and events.
  • Assist in organizing internal and external events to promote the school.
  • Collaborate with health, safety, and fire safety specialists to coordinate compliance actions.
  • Support senior leadership in property and facility development projects.

  • Strong leadership skills to motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and practical skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Facilities Management systems).
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, with a meticulous approach to tasks.
  • A commitment to creating an environment that enhances the experience of students, colleagues, and parents.
  • A keen eye for detail in both environmental and administrative aspects.
  • Experience managing facilities, ideally across multiple sites.
  • Proven ability to manage an annual maintenance budget effectively.
  • Experience in organizing large, complex events.
  • A background in a busy, service-driven culture, preferably in a school setting.
  • Willingness to attend call-outs as necessary, including out-of-hours.
