About the Role
We are excited to invite a passionate individual to join us as an After School Care Assistant. In this role, you will help create a high-quality childcare experience in a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for our pupils outside of educational hours.
Your Responsibilities
- Assist in setting up Before School Care and After School Care.
- Complete daily registers of pupils attending the care sessions.
- Serve food and beverages, with appropriate Food & Hygiene training provided.
- Maintain a safe and engaging play environment, fostering children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional development through play.
- Deliver interesting and valuable activities tailored to the children’s needs.
- Administer First Aid when necessary (training will be provided).
- Help tidy the classroom or hall and ensure secure storage of resources.
Support for the School
- Comply with procedures related to child protection, food hygiene, health, safety, and confidentiality.
- Support diversity and ensure all pupils have equal access to learning opportunities.
- Contribute to the school vision and objectives.
- Participate in relevant meetings and INSET days.
- Complete mandatory training to ensure compliance.
- Set a positive example in dress, punctuality, and attendance.
- Undertake additional duties as required by the school.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Qualifications
- Good literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with children and adults.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Experience in promoting children’s emotional development.
- Good timekeeping and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection (training will be provided).
Desirable Qualifications
- Paediatric First Aid training (training will be provided).
- Food & Hygiene Level 2 training (training will be provided).
- An NVQ 2/3 qualification in childcare or similar.
- Experience in a similar environment with children.
- Familiarity with MS Excel for submitting payroll information.
