About the Role

Are you passionate about creating a nurturing environment for children? As an After School Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality childcare experience in a safe, caring, and stimulating setting for our pupils outside of educational hours.

Your Responsibilities

  • Set up Before School Care and After School Care activities.
  • Maintain a daily register of pupils attending the care sessions.
  • Assist with serving food and beverages (Food & Hygiene training provided).
  • Create a safe and stimulating play environment that promotes children's development through play.
  • Deliver engaging and valuable activities tailored to the children's needs.
  • Administer First Aid when necessary (training provided).
  • Help tidy the classroom or hall and ensure secure storage of resources.

Support for the School

  • Adhere to child protection, food hygiene, health, safety, and confidentiality procedures.
  • Support diversity and ensure all pupils have equal access to learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to the school vision and objectives.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and training sessions.
  • Set a positive example in dress, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Take on additional duties as required by the school.

What You'll Bring

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
  • Team player with effective communication skills for interacting with children and adults.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in promoting children's emotional development.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection (training provided).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Paediatric First Aid training (training provided).
  • Food & Hygiene Level 2 training (training provided).
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in childcare or similar qualifications.
  • Experience in a similar environment with children.
  • Familiarity with MS Excel for submitting payroll sheets.
