About the Role

We are on the lookout for a dedicated Teacher of Product Design (with the opportunity for Subject Lead) to join our vibrant team. This role is pivotal in contributing to a thriving Faculty that enhances our curriculum and fosters intellectual agility and resilience.

As a member of our teaching staff, you will play a vital role in nurturing a sense of community and supporting various aspects of school life, providing both our pupils and staff with opportunities for aspiration, leadership, and joy. Above all, you will embody the ethos of Mount House School, nurturing confidence, building community, and ensuring every student reaches their full potential.

Safeguarding is central to this role. You will be expected to follow all school policies, maintain confidentiality, complete required training, and prioritize the wellbeing of every pupil.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that support pupil progress and achievement.
• Assess, monitor, and report on pupils' attainment, progress, and development.
• Prepare pupils for examinations and contribute to assessment processes.
• Act as a Form Tutor, supporting pupils' academic, personal, and social development.
• Build positive relationships with parents and communicate regularly regarding pupil progress.
• Contribute to the school’s co-curricular programme, including leading an extracurricular club.
• Support and participate in school trips, events, and enrichment activities.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, health, and safety.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, attending meetings and contributing to school improvement.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and participate in the appraisal process.
• Undertake administrative duties associated with teaching and pastoral responsibilities.
• Promote and uphold the values, ethos, and community life of the school.

Who We Are Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching in a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments.
• Proven ability to deliver outstanding classroom practice and raise student achievement.
• Excellent understanding of assessment, monitoring, and reporting processes.
• Effective behaviour management skills.
• Ability to differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Proficient in the use of technology to support teaching, learning, and administration.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Ability to contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities.
• Positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to education.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
