About the Role

As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in the educational and social development of a Year 6 and a Year 7 pupil with Special Educational Needs. Working under the direction of the SENDCo and teaching staff, you will:

• Assist the Class Teacher in supporting the pupil on a one-to-one or small group basis.
• Help prepare and maintain differentiated resources to meet the pupil’s Educational Care Health Plan.
• Engage in a wide range of activities and supported learning tasks.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs. Here’s what you’ll need:

• Previous experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting.
• Experience with children with SEND, particularly ASC or SEMH.
• GCSEs in Maths and English, grade C or above.
• Level 3 Qualification in Learning Support Courses or Childcare is desirable.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children.
• Experience delivering specific support programs to individuals or small groups.
• Basic computer literacy skills and knowledge of KS2/KS3.
• A flexible approach to working and the ability to work as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning for individuals and small groups.
• Deliver targeted support for pupils with SEND, including implementing IEPs and EHCPs.
• Promote positive behaviour, independence, wellbeing, and inclusion.
• Provide pastoral support and contribute to safeguarding and child protection.
• Supervise pupils during breaktimes and other non-classroom activities.
• Support school events, educational visits, and extracurricular activities.
• Participate in meetings and professional development.
