Location: Huddersfield Grammar School - Yorkshire

Contract: Permanent - Full-Time (37.5 Hours per Week)

Salary: Up to £45,162 per Annum plus £5,000 TLR for Director of Sport responsibility

Start Date: September 2026

Your Role: Director of Sport

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and inspirational leader to shape the future of sport and physical education at Huddersfield Grammar School. As the Director of Sport, you will:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for Physical Education, Games, and the wider sporting provision.
  • Lead and manage the PE team, fostering a culture of excellence in teaching, learning, participation, and performance.
  • Ensure every pupil enjoys a high-quality sporting experience.
  • Develop and deliver a clear vision for PE and Sport, overseeing curriculum and co-curricular activities.
  • Inspire pupils and colleagues, enhancing the school's sporting reputation and promoting health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the PE, Games, and Sport provision across the school.
  • Manage and inspire a high-performing PE department, driving excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Oversee the PE curriculum across all key stages, including GCSE PE.
  • Monitor pupil progress and departmental performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support and develop PE staff through coaching and professional development.
  • Expand the school's co-curricular sports programme, including fixtures, competitions, tours, and events.
  • Develop sporting pathways that encourage participation, talent development, and high achievement.
  • Build strong partnerships with local clubs, schools, and sporting organisations.
  • Teach PE and Sport across a range of ages and abilities, maintaining high standards of pupil achievement and behaviour.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through events, parental engagement, and leadership activities.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Good honours degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • PGCE or recognized teaching qualification.
  • Inspirational and visionary leader.
  • Passionate advocate for sport, physical education, and pupil wellbeing.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional opportunities and outcomes for all pupils.
  • Ambitious for the future development of sport within the school.
