About the Role

We are on the lookout for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 pastoral and academic support for a Year 7 student with EHCP needs. This rewarding role is all about helping a student access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop independence in a nurturing environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the student in lessons and reinforcing learning.
• Assisting with homework and adapting strategies in line with EHCP guidance.
• Using the student’s interests to foster engagement and motivation.
• Promoting inclusion and social development.
• Collaborating closely with teachers and parents to monitor progress.
• Contributing to the wider school community through behavior support, events, and general classroom duties.

Safeguarding is central to this role, and you will follow all school policies, maintain confidentiality, complete required training, and prioritize the wellbeing of every child.

Who We Are Looking For

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above) essential.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification desirable.
• SEND-specific training desirable.

Experience

• Experience working with secondary-age students.
• Experience supporting students with EHCPs and SEND.
• Experience with ADHD, autism, DCD, and speech, language, and communication informed approaches desirable.
• Experience in either mainstream or specialist settings.

Knowledge & Skills

• Good understanding of the GCSE curriculum.
• Understanding of strategies to support students with ADHD, autism, and DCD.
• Ability to promote independent learning.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Organized and able to manage administrative tasks effectively.
