Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Selwyn Hall School, part of the Polaris Community, is looking for a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team in Foxton, Cambridgeshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH) in a nurturing environment.

About Selwyn Hall School

Located in beautiful private grounds, Selwyn Hall School provides specialist education for students aged 7-18. Our small class sizes (4-6 pupils) ensure that each child receives the individual attention they need to thrive. With a focus on health and wellbeing, our facilities include:

  • Outdoor learning spaces, including a forest school and sensory trail
  • A multi-use sports pitch and conservation area
  • Fully refurbished classrooms for science, computing, music, drama, and art/DT

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a One-to-One Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons
  • Report on pupils' progress and collaborate with staff to meet their needs
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extracurricular activities
  • Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation
  • Set and mark work as appropriate
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to drive engagement and learning outcomes

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting
  • Confidence to take on additional responsibilities, such as food hygiene or school yoga
  • Skills in behaviour management and a commitment to professional development

Working Conditions and Benefits

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for one year, working term time only. Your basic salary will range from £21,257.48 to £23,232.69. We offer:
