At Selwyn Hall School, we are looking for a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant community in Foxton, Cambridgeshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH) in a nurturing environment.

About Selwyn Hall School

Located in the beautiful surroundings of Foxton, our SEN school caters to children aged 7-18 with various needs, including ASD, ADHD, and anxiety. With small class sizes of 4-6 pupils, we ensure that every child receives the personalized attention they deserve.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a One-to-One Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons
  • Report on pupils' progress and collaborate with staff to meet their needs
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips
  • Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation
  • Set work and mark assignments as needed
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to foster engagement and learning

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting
  • Confidence to take on additional responsibilities, such as food hygiene or forest school
  • Skills in behaviour management and techniques
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn
