As a Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Registered Manager in the daily operations of our service, fostering a caring and respectful environment for young individuals aged 11-18.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Deputy Manager, you will:

• Support the Registered Manager and step in when needed to oversee the daily running of the home.
• Supervise, guide, and support staff, ensuring effective communication and high standards of practice.
• Manage key operational areas including care quality, recruitment, training, staffing, and basic financial duties.
• Assess young people's needs and contribute to personalized care plans that address cultural, social, and emotional needs.
• Promote positive behavior, independence, and active participation in decision-making.
• Maintain a respectful, non-discriminatory practice while providing high-quality personal care.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding requirements and relevant legislation.
• Keep risk assessments and health & safety checks up to date, ensuring a safe environment.
• Build strong relationships with young people, families, staff, and external professionals.
• Assist with staffing needs, including recruitment and training.
• Support admissions, ensuring a smooth transition for each young person.
• Attend meetings and share key information within the team and partner agencies.
• Ensure staff are trained and confident in relevant intervention strategies.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• 2+ years of residential childcare experience.
• A Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
• Experience in child protection.
• Strong leadership and staff supervision skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience managing budgets and staff rotas.
• Project management skills and an enthusiastic disposition.
• A commitment to ongoing personal development.
• A proactive, solution-focused mindset.
