Role Responsibilities

As a Tutor / ELSA, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students' well-being and academic success. Your responsibilities will include:

• Enhancing students' well-being, readiness for learning, resilience, and behavior management.
• Collaborating with the education team to remove barriers to learning.
• Promoting positive learning behaviors among students.
• Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
• Delivering engaging enrichment activities during Golden Time.
• Providing academic and pastoral support in lessons.
• Addressing immediate concerns and clarifying situations as they arise.
• Creating and compiling information related to lessons and interventions.
• Assisting in preparing information for meetings about pupils.
• Being an advocate for the ethos of Martha H School.
• Leading on reading and phonics, tracking student progress.
• Developing the Pupil Voice initiative and liaising with the Senior Leadership Team.
• Building relationships with parents and carers, actively participating in transitions and consultations.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
• Previous experience in a similar role, such as HLTA.
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
• Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like food hygiene, forest school, lunchtimes, or school yoga.
• Proficiency in behavior management techniques.
• A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
