Role Purpose

We are seeking a passionate and energetic Play Worker to join our dynamic team as bank staff for our Holiday Club and the occasional term-time Wraparound session when cover is needed. If you are enthusiastic about working with children and creating a fun, engaging, and inclusive environment, this role is for you!

You will be responsible for leading a range of activities for children aged 2.5 to 11 years, ensuring each child’s safety and well-being. Your passion for working with children and providing inclusive, fun, and engaging activities is essential. You will inspire them to explore their interests while assisting with the planning and delivery of games and activities, including:

• Multi-sports
• Indoor and outdoor games
• Arts & crafts
• Downtime and structured play

Enthusiasm and organizational skills are key! You will also ensure the safety and enjoyment of the children in your care, following specific policies and procedures, including accident and incident reporting, as well as health and safety checks. Building positive relationships with children and families is crucial for their benefit.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a safe, engaging, and enjoyable wraparound care and holiday club experience for children aged 2.5 to 11 years.
• Plan and lead a variety of inclusive activities, including sports, arts and crafts, educational games, and structured play.
• Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and positive behavior.
• Create a welcoming environment where children can learn, develop confidence, and have fun.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues.
• Support the day-to-day operation of the wraparound and holiday club provision.
• Maintain accurate attendance and activity records as required.
• Assist with the preparation of resources, equipment, and activity plans.
• Administer first aid when required and complete associated documentation.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, following all school policies and procedures.

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Flexible, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A positive, energetic, and nurturing approach.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and act professionally at all times.
• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable

• Childcare qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• First Aid qualification.
• Previous experience in a school, childcare, holiday club, or wraparound care setting.
• Experience planning and delivering activities for children aged 2.5-11 years.
• Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
