Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Tutor / ELSA, you will play a vital role in our students' lives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
- Collaborating with the education team to support personal and academic development.
- Promoting positive learning behaviours among students.
- Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
- Delivering engaging enrichment activities during Golden Time.
- Providing support in lessons for academic understanding and emotional needs.
- Addressing immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
- Collecting and organizing information related to lessons and interventions.
- Preparing relevant information for pupil meetings.
- Advocating for the ethos of Martha H School.
- Leading on reading and phonics, tracking student progress.
- Developing the Pupil Voice initiative in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team.
- Building relationships with parents and carers, actively participating in transitions and consultations.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, along with sound IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as HLTA.
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
- Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like food hygiene, forest school, lunchtimes, or school yoga.
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
- A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
