About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to help create a high-quality childcare experience in a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for our pupils outside of educational hours. As an After School Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of Before School Care and/or After School Care.
What You'll Be Doing
- Setting up Before School Care and After School Care.
- Completing daily registers of pupils attending the care sessions.
- Assisting with serving food and beverages (Food & Hygiene training provided).
- Maintaining a safe and stimulating play environment, promoting children's social, physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional development through play.
- Delivering engaging and appropriate activities that cater to the children's needs.
- Administering First Aid when necessary (First Aid training provided).
- Tidying the classroom or hall and ensuring secure storage of resources and equipment.
Support for the School
- Complying with procedures related to child protection, food hygiene, health, safety, and confidentiality.
- Supporting diversity and ensuring all pupils have equal access to learning opportunities.
- Contributing to the school vision and objectives.
- Participating in relevant meetings and INSET days.
- Completing mandatory training to ensure compliance.
- Setting a positive example in dress, punctuality, and attendance.
- Undertaking additional duties as required by the school.
What You'll Bring
Essential Qualifications
- Good literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with children and adults.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Experience in promoting children's emotional development.
- Good timekeeping and attention to detail.
- Understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection (training provided).
Desirable Qualifications
- Paediatric First Aid training (training provided).
- Level 2 Food & Hygiene training (training provided).
- NVQ 2/3 qualification in childcare or similar.
- Experience in a similar environment with children.
- Flexibility in working patterns.
- Knowledge of MS Excel for payroll submissions.
