Are you ready to make a significant impact in the water infrastructure sector? We’re on the lookout for a part-time Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic Southern Water team based in Falmer / Chatham. This is your chance to be part of something big!

Location & Hours

Location: Falmer / Chatham - Enjoy the flexibility of remote working, with occasional office visits required.
Hours: Part-time, 24 hours per week - We’re open to job sharing and flexible hours, just let us know what works for you!

Your Role

As a Quantity Surveyor in our Commercial team, you’ll play a vital role in delivering one of the UK’s most exciting water infrastructure programmes. With Kier appointed by Southern Water Services for a £3.1bn Strategic Development Partnership Framework, you’ll be involved in projects that enhance water supply and wastewater treatment, benefiting 2.5 million households across the region.

What Will You Be Responsible For?

In this role, you’ll support the team in:

  • Monitoring, forecasting, and reporting project costs and values, while preparing monthly and final payment applications.
  • Assisting operational teams with contract compliance, value maximization, and cost-saving strategies.
  • Assessing and processing subcontract payments in line with contractual and business requirements.
  • Identifying changes and supporting change control procedures on projects.
  • Liaising regularly with subcontractors and client commercial teams for financial updates and audits.

What Are We Looking For?

This role is perfect for you if:

  • You have experience with NEC contracts and Target Costs.
  • You come from a background in construction infrastructure, water, or civils.
  • You possess excellent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, and have experience with Oracle and Causeway accounting systems.
  • You have strong communication skills and enjoy building relationships with clients.
  • You can attend the Falmer or Chatham office at least three days a week (flexible arrangements are welcome) and visit construction sites in East Sussex/Kent.
