Your Role and Responsibilities
As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
- Performing cleaning, handyperson duties, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Supervising school cleaning staff as needed.
- Promoting health and safety throughout the school.
- Handling porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
- Reporting any issues to the Headteacher regarding premises, furniture, and fittings.
- Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.
- Conducting daily cleaning and ad hoc duties, including litter picking and waste disposal.
- Ensuring the security of the school premises as the main key holder.
- Locking and unlocking the premises as required, including outside school hours.
- Setting security alarm systems and responding to alarms as per agreed procedures.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Previous property maintenance or caretaking experience, preferably in a school environment.
- Experience with building maintenance and security systems.
- A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal communication abilities.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
