Your Role and Responsibilities

As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment. Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
• Performing cleaning, handyperson duties, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Supervising school cleaning staff as needed.
• Promoting health and safety throughout the school.
• Handling porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
• Reporting any issues to the Headteacher regarding premises, furniture, and fittings.
• Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.
• Conducting daily cleaning and ad hoc duties, including litter picking and waste disposal.
• Ensuring the security of the school premises as the main key holder.
• Locking and unlocking the premises as required, including outside school hours.
• Setting security alarm systems and responding to alarms as per agreed procedures.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• Previous property maintenance or caretaking experience, preferably in a school environment.
• Experience with building maintenance and security systems.
• A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal communication abilities.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
