About the Role

Are you passionate about creating a safe and stimulating environment for children? As an After School Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality childcare outside of educational hours. Your contributions will ensure that our pupils enjoy enriching play and learning experiences.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up Before School Care and After School Care.
  • Complete daily registers of pupils attending the care sessions.
  • Serve food and beverages, with appropriate Food & Hygiene training provided.
  • Maintain a safe and engaging play environment, fostering children's social, physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional development.
  • Deliver interesting and valuable activities tailored to the children's needs.
  • Administer First Aid when necessary (training provided).
  • Help tidy the classroom or hall and ensure secure storage of resources.

Support for the School

  • Comply with child protection, food hygiene, health, safety, and confidentiality procedures.
  • Support diversity and ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all pupils.
  • Contribute to the school vision and objectives.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and training sessions.
  • Set a positive example in dress, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by the school.

What You’ll Bring

Essential Qualifications

  • Good literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills with children and adults.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience in promoting children's emotional development.
  • Good timekeeping and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection (training provided).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Paediatric First Aid training (training provided).
  • Food & Hygiene Level 2 training (training provided).
  • NVQ 2/3 qualification in childcare or similar.
  • Experience in a similar environment with children.
  • Familiarity with MS Excel for payroll submissions.
