Your Role and Responsibilities
As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of school premises, including buildings and grounds.
- Performing cleaning, handyperson duties, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Supervising cleaning staff as needed and promoting health and safety throughout the school.
- Managing porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
- Conducting daily cleaning and emergency cleaning duties, including gritting and spill clean-ups.
- Arranging annual deep cleans and maintaining cleaning tools and products.
- Ensuring the security of the premises as the main key holder, including locking and unlocking as required.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Previous experience in property maintenance or caretaking, preferably in a school environment.
- Knowledge of building maintenance and security systems.
- A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal communication abilities.
- Literacy and numeracy skills.
- The ability to work effectively with children and young people with SEMH needs.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Please note that the successful candidate will need to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will be covered by Polaris Education.
