Join Our Team as a School Tutor / ELSA at Polaris - Martha H School!

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a School Tutor / ELSA on a full-time, term-time only basis, with a basic salary of £24,000 FTE.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a School Tutor / ELSA, you will play a vital role in supporting our students' personal and academic development. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management within Martha H School.
  • Collaborating with the education team to remove barriers to learning.
  • Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
  • Delivering enrichment activities during Golden Time.
  • Assisting in lessons to support academic understanding and address pastoral, emotional, or behavioural needs.
  • Responding to immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
  • Creating and collating information related to lessons and interventions.
  • Preparing relevant information for meetings about pupils.
  • Advocating for the ethos of Martha H School.
  • Leading on reading and phonics, reviewing progress made by students.
  • Developing the role of Pupil Voice and liaising with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Building relationships with parents and carers, actively participating in transitions and consultations.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

  • A strong educational background, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Sound IT skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as HLTA.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like food hygiene, forest school, lunchtimes, or school yoga.
  • Experience in behaviour management techniques.
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
