Why Choose Selwyn Hall School?

At Selwyn Hall School, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for students aged 7-18 with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Nestled in the beautiful countryside of Foxton, our school offers a therapeutic setting where every child can thrive.

Our small class sizes, with groups of just 4-6 pupils, ensure that each student receives the personalized attention they need to succeed. With extensive outdoor learning spaces, including a forest school and sensory trail, as well as fully refurbished classrooms for science, music, drama, and more, we create an engaging and supportive atmosphere for both learning and growth.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a One-to-One Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils.
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons and help with lesson planning.
  • Report on pupils' progress and collaborate with staff to meet their needs.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including school trips.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to foster engagement and learning.

  • A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs in an educational setting.
  • Confidence in taking on additional responsibilities, such as food hygiene or forest school.
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.

What We Offer You

At Selwyn Hall School, we value the emotional health and wellbeing of our staff just as much as our students. Here’s what you can expect:

  • A supportive workplace that prioritizes your development through various professional opportunities.
  • The chance to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children.
  • A friendly and inclusive team passionate about improving pupil outcomes.

Please note that the successful candidate will need to complete an enhanced DBS check, which will be covered by Selwyn Hall School. We are an equal opportunities employer and encourage applications from all qualified candidates.
