About Us
Apple Orchard is not just a school; it's a vibrant therapeutic community dedicated to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Our small secondary school is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment where every student can flourish. Led by an experienced Headteacher and a dedicated team of teachers and teaching assistants, we offer a diverse curriculum that includes National Curriculum subjects and GCSE pathways.
Your Role
As a PSHE/Careers Teacher, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and delivering engaging programs of study in PSHE, Careers, vocational subjects, and ASDAN.
- Motivating and encouraging young people to reach their full potential.
- Maintaining high expectations and a clear vision of educational excellence.
- Implementing outstanding classroom management practices.
- Collaborating with a supportive team to foster a positive learning environment.
- Teaching additional subjects as needed.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A passion for working with vulnerable young people and building trusting relationships.
- Outstanding classroom ability and behaviour management skills.
- Flexibility and a willingness to contribute to our small, hardworking team.
- A valid driving license, with the ability to drive both manual and automatic vehicles.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time, permanent position during term time only, with the following hours:
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: 8:45 AM - 4:30 PM
- Tuesday: 8:45 AM - 5:00 PM
