At Sutherland Hall School in Tamworth, we are looking for a dedicated SENCO to join our vibrant community. Located in Tamworth, Sutherland Hall School is designed to accommodate up to 78 pupils with complex needs. Our holistic approach ensures that academic progress goes hand-in-hand with emotional wellbeing and personal growth. Your Role

As our SENCO, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational journey of our pupils. Your responsibilities will include:

• Determining the strategic development of the school's SEN policy and provision.
• Designing and delivering interventions to bridge attainment gaps.
• Assessing and monitoring pupils' progress in line with their EHCPs.
• Coordinating and leading annual reviews.
• Acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Collaborating with multi-agency teams and leading on Early Help initiatives.
• Liaising with the Headteacher, tutors, and parents to support individual learning plans.
• Maintaining accurate records and supporting colleagues in effective teaching strategies.
• Working closely with external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for our pupils.
• Implementing and evaluating intervention groups for pupils with SEN.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• The National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a willingness to complete the NPQ for SENCOs.
• Experience in school self-evaluation and development planning.
• A background in teaching within an autism/SEMH school.
• Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
• A commitment to professional development and a passion for learning.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, term-time only position with a basic salary of £42,000 per annum. You will be part of a friendly and inclusive team dedicated to improving pupil outcomes.
