About the Role

As a Waking Night Residential Childcare Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in promoting the welfare and safety of our young residents. This full-time, permanent position offers a competitive salary of £28,619.14 per annum, with opportunities for overtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work approximately 55 hours per week on a rota of 5 nights on, 5 nights off.
  • Promote the welfare and safety of young people in line with the Children Act 1989.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and supervision when not on shift the night before.
  • Participate in required training and attend the annual summer holiday when needed.
  • Arrive on time, complete handovers, and stay informed about each young person’s needs.
  • Build understanding of each young person to assess and meet their ongoing emotional and practical needs.
  • Support consistent bedtime routines and encourage good hygiene habits.
  • Monitor young people throughout the night, recording disturbances and key events clearly.
  • Complete nightly paperwork, including the Daily Register and fire alarm tests.
  • Prepare the breakfast table, promote healthy eating, and tidy away afterwards.
  • Carry out any additional duties requested by the line manager.
  • Maintain safety and security at all times—this is our highest priority!

What We’re Looking For

A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare (or similar) is ideal, but not essential. We welcome applications from those willing to work towards it!

Working Conditions

This role involves working approximately 40 hours per week from 10 PM to 9 AM, five days on and five off. Flexibility is key, as occasional extra cover may be needed.
