Are you ready to make a difference? We’re on the lookout for a part-time Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic Southern Water team based in Falmer / Chatham. Enjoy the flexibility of remote working, with occasional office visits required.
Location & Hours
Location: Falmer / Chatham - Remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required.
Hours: Part-time, 24 hours per week. We’re open to job sharing and flexible hours—just let us know what works for you!

Your Role
As a Quantity Surveyor in our Commercial team, you will play a vital role in delivering one of the most exciting water infrastructure programmes in the UK. You’ll be part of a £3.1bn Strategic Development Partnership Framework for Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) with Southern Water Services. This seven-year partnership, with the option to extend for an additional five years, will involve:
- Working on projects that enhance capacity at water supply and wastewater treatment sites.
- Improving water safety, quality, recycling, and resilience for 2.5 million households.
- Managing over 53,000 km of water networks across the region.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Monitor, forecast, and report project costs and value while preparing monthly and final payment applications.
- Support operational teams with contract compliance, value maximization, and cost-saving techniques.
- Assess and process subcontract payments in line with contractual and business requirements.
- Identify changes and support change control procedures on projects.
- Liaise regularly with subcontractors and client commercial teams on financial updates and audits.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if:
- You have experience working on NEC contracts with Target Costs.
- You come from the construction infrastructure, water, or civils industry.
- You possess excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, and have experience with Oracle and Causeway accounting systems.
- You have strong communication skills and enjoy building relationships with clients.
- You can attend the Falmer or Chatham office a minimum of three days per week (flexible arrangements welcome) and visit working construction sites in East Sussex/Kent.
