Role Responsibilities

As a School Tutor / ELSA, you will play a vital role in supporting our students' personal and academic growth. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
  • Collaborating with the education team to remove barriers to learning.
  • Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
  • Delivering enrichment activities during Golden Time.
  • Assisting in lessons to support academic understanding and emotional needs.
  • Responding to immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
  • Creating and collating information related to lessons and interventions.
  • Advocating for the ethos of Martha H School.
  • Leading on reading and phonics, while reviewing student progress.
  • Developing the Pupil Voice and liaising with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Building relationships with parents and carers, actively participating in transitions and consultations.

Requirements

We’re looking for candidates who are:

  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, with strong IT skills.
  • Experienced in a similar role, such as HLTA.
  • Familiar with working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • Confident in taking on additional responsibilities, such as food hygiene or school activities.
  • Skilled in behaviour management techniques.
  • Committed to professional development and eager to learn.
