Hours: 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced Caretaker to join our supportive community at two small to medium-sized schools in Batley and Huddersfield. Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for maintaining two school sites. Your key tasks will include:

  • Ensuring clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds
  • Performing cleaning, maintenance tasks, and minor repairs
  • Supervising school cleaning staff
  • Promoting health and safety throughout the schools
  • Handling porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment
  • Maintaining school premises and reporting issues to the Headteacher
  • Carrying out small repairs and DIY projects
  • Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors
  • Conducting daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking
  • Managing emergency cleaning duties, such as gritting and spill clean-ups
  • Coordinating an annual deep clean of key areas
  • Maintaining cleaning tools and products, ensuring good stock levels
  • Locking and unlocking the premises as required
  • Ensuring all windows, doors, and gates are secured at the end of the day

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous caretaking experience in a school environment
  • Experience in building maintenance
  • Knowledge of security systems
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Basic DIY skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with contractors and visitors
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work in an environment with SEMH children
  • Full driving license and access to a car
  • Willingness to travel between both sites

The successful candidate will need to complete an enhanced DBS check, which will be covered by Polaris.
