The RAC is renowned for roadside rescue, but our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a fresh, fast-growing segment focused on delivering planned, structured repairs directly to our members—right from their driveway to their workplace car park.

Where You’ll Work

You’ll be part of the Oxford cluster, covering areas like Oxford, Abingdon, Didcot, Wantage, Witney, Bicester, and Thame. Enjoy the freedom of being out on the road, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments—no reactive callouts, just organized, pre-booked work!

What to Expect

Your day begins with a clear digital schedule, where each job is pre-booked and the member is expecting you. You’ll carry out:

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs typically done in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspections
• Vehicle safety checks aligned with RAC standards

With SMR, you’re not reacting to breakdowns; you’re delivering planned work that you can prepare for. From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set, and advanced diagnostics.

What You’ll Need...

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• or
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

And:

• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
