The RAC is renowned for roadside rescue, but this role is something special! Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a fast-growing part of the RAC, dedicated to delivering planned, structured repairs and servicing directly to our members—right from their driveway to their workplace car park.

Forget emergency callouts and unpredictable shifts! Here, you’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs, equipped with the time, tools, and support to deliver quality work.

What to Expect:

Your day begins with a clear digital schedule, where each job is pre-booked and the member is expecting you. You’ll carry out:

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs typically done in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

With SMR, you’re not reacting to breakdowns; you’re delivering planned work that you can prepare for. From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set, and advanced diagnostics. Use your technical skills and problem-solving abilities to get people moving again—safely, quickly, and confidently!

What You’ll Need:

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

• Either:
• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• And:
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
