About the School
Located in Burnley, Lancashire, our school has the capacity for up to 48 pupils, providing a safe and supportive environment for children aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs. We believe in fostering a positive atmosphere where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered. Our holistic approach ensures that academic progress is complemented by emotional wellbeing and personal growth.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils.
- Assist the classroom teacher during lessons.
- Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other staff to meet pupils' needs.
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips.
- Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
- Set work where appropriate and mark assignments.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to drive interaction and positive learning outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should:
- Have a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
- Possess sound IT skills.
- Have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- Be experienced in working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting.
- Be confident in taking additional responsibilities in areas such as Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, or School Yoga.
- Have experience in behaviour management techniques.
- Be committed to professional development and eager to learn.
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which will be covered by Polaris Community.
