About the Role

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the physical, emotional, and social development of the children in our homes. Your dedication will help create a safe and stable environment during the night.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay awake and alert throughout the night shift.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of each child.
  • Provide empathy and support when young people need reassurance.
  • Assist with personalized bedtime routines and occasional activities.
  • Accurately record information using our computer systems.
  • Follow the Philomena protocol when reporting a missing child.
  • Communicate effectively with out-of-hours services and handle calls professionally.
  • Act as a positive role model and contribute to the home’s values.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Ability to work as part of a team and bring energy and enthusiasm.
  • Experience and knowledge of safeguarding children.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage and listen to children effectively.
  • Organizational skills to plan and prepare work.
  • Willingness to work towards a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare if not already held.

Working Conditions

This is a permanent position based in Soham, Cambridgeshire, with specific hours from 20:00 PM to 8:00 AM (12-hour shifts). You will work a rotational weekly rota, with a minimum of 48 hours per week and 168 hours per month.
